A world without boundaries. A life without limits.
I currently live and work in the beautiful country Bermuda as a music teacher and have been a resident here for 4 years. I love the mix of UK, USA, Caribbean feel, and the experiences and opportunities being here has afforded me, from the professional (excellent facilities and never endingly enthusiastic students), to the personal (learning to sail, having a fabulous backdrop to indulge my hobby of photography and owning my own boat), and the not quite so pleasant (hurricanes, ants and cockroaches!). My time here has been one I will always treasure.

I loved to teach even as a 7 year old and could often be found setting rules for the other children to follow. Early in life I found a love of music and a desire to share this love with others. I realised at around 12 that I wanted to become a music teacher and I was fortunate to have teachers and family who encouraged me to follow my dreams. Thank you Mrs. Keeler for the never-ending encouragement and enthusiasm! I began violin lessons at the age of 9, flute at 11 and piano at 12. Along the way I dabbled in everything from euphonium to saxophone including oboe and harp! Singing, however was always been my one true love, from informal performances to performances on the stage and everything in between. I found a love of musicals and could often be found treading the boards in my local theatre or acting as producer, musical director or stage hand! |
I was born and raised in the UK (and I say UK for very deliberate reasons!).
My Mum is Welsh, my Dad is English. International rugby and football games were always fun (!). I was brought up to support England in football and Wales in rugby. I lived in England but my family were divided between England and Wales. I traveled back and forth over the Pennines to catch Manchester United games but hated attending my local team Scunthorpe United, "The Iron". |
A love of travelling was instilled in me from an early age, and, as such I completed my undergraduate degree on two continents. I have been fortunate to travel (and continue to travel) to numerous countries around the world and I am fascinated by the cultural differences in education.
Teaching abroad is a fascinating experience and I would encourage everyone to do it at some point in their career. We now live in an ever connected world and I believe that as educators we should seek to explore and experience all our world has to offer. Who knows where my next stop will be! |
